Starting a blog is a reliable way to support yourself and your family. It takes a lot of work and is currently a beaten track. There are some critical decisions you need to make in the beginning. I learned these lessons the hard way, and they fully determine how successful you will be. Half of the work is choosing the right pond to fish.

I will guide you through the steps to start a blog, which is especially useful for beginners who have never done this before.

1. Pick a Good Domain Name

The name of your blog is what readers will see first (like your blog.com), so ideally it should either represent the general topics you will write about - or it could be your name, the name of your company, a clever combination of words, or something else.

It's the first step you take when you start a blog. A domain name is similar to your address on the web. For example, my domain name is chugzi.com.

Choose a domain name that refers to your niche. This may require a brainstorming session as not all the desired domain names are available.

2. Register your domain name and choose your web hosting company

The second step in starting a blog is putting your blog online. This is what a web hosting company will do for you. In this step, you choose the blogging platform and web hosting plan that you want to use to put your blog online.

The combination of blogging platform & web hosting that I use (and that most other bloggers use) is a WordPress blog hosted by Bluehost. You may use this combination to launch your blog.

3. Install WordPress

And here's the best part: Bluehost installs your WordPress automatically after you sign up for the hosting, so you don't need any technicians!

4. Time to start writing your new blog

The most important thing I have done and what I would advise you to do is to make a rough sketch of at least ten messages before you start your website.

That way you will have your content ready and you can work on the advertising when the launch takes place.

Writing a message can be relatively easy if you know a lot about your niche. You may use all free photos and designs to make your blog posts stand out.
