Amazon has generated significant revenue from affiliates over the years, but due to changes in a number of factors, including SEO and the habits of web surfers in general, the environment is very different than it was a few years ago.
In the past, it was possible to create micro-niche sites that focused on a specific niche subject or a single product and generate very high revenues.

Google seemed to like such micro-niche sites, and they could rank very easily and make a lot of money very quickly.
But times change, and it seems that Google has decided that most micro-niche sites are spam, and instead wants to rank sites with huge amounts of quality content.

This destroyed many businesses and domains expired one by one as they lost their rankings and became unprofitable. With these changes, is it possible, if not almost impossible, to make money as an Amazon affiliate using traditional methods?

The answer is a resounding "YES!"
The methods may be different, but it is certainly possible to earn a hefty income as an Amazon affiliate.

So let's get started.

Getting Started

The first thing you need to do is to get rid of the old concept of micro-niche sites. These sites are harder to make a profit from and require more marketing and promotion. Google does not like small websites. Google does not like small websites because small websites are generally nothing but spam.

In other words, the original purpose of micro-niche sites (to bring in a lot of traffic to promote one or two affiliate products) is pretty much dead, unless you are willing to spend a lot of time and effort on other marketing methods.

Instead, it is important to focus on broader areas. This is because if you are going to spend a lot of effort on promotion, you might as well have more products that have the potential to sell. Also, review sites are becoming a dying breed. Review sites don't rank high on Google, and most people look for reviews on major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target.

People on the Internet are more savvy than ever and know that the average "review site" is nothing more than a flimsy affiliate site. Review sites are effective, but they are much more difficult to find than they used to be. You can't rank these sites easily, they require more promotion, and they are not really that profitable because people don't trust review sites as much as they used to.

Fortunately, there is a better way.

It doesn't have to look like this

1. creating a "thin" affiliate site with little or no original content.
2. concentrating on a single product or narrow niche.
3. spamming Google and other search engines. 4.
4. registering dozens (or more) of domains.
5. intense keyword research.
6. paid advertising.

This method is actually easier, more fun, and requires less financial investment than the old micro-niche method because instead of needing dozens, hundreds, or thousands of domains, you only need one domain, or a handful of domains.

You can focus on a broader niche while still attracting Google traffic or getting traffic from other sources. In fact, this is actually the type of method Google prefers, because you are creating a real website with real content and real benefits to your visitors!
